The bird on the left has been "coiffed," while the one on the right is waiting its turn. I brushed out the individual hairs then cleaned the entire piece with alcohol, highlighted with a polishing cloth, then protected with Renaissance wax. Using a silver polish then rinsing the birds would have left moisture inside their bodies.
