& Bond Japanese Meiji Sterling Teaset
This magnificent teaset shipped to me from Hong Kong required an enormous amout of work. I forged new sterling wiskers for every dragon head because they were missing. This image is the finished set. |
The double-walled tray had to be totally disassembled to remove the handle dents; that included removing the outer soldered bezel and inner soldered rim securing the wooden bottom. |
Missing wiskers on the rim's dragon... |
The tray also had major cracks which I welded with sterling. The kettle's upper handle parts were reattached where they cross and new pre-ban ivory insulators were installed. Other pieces needed dents removed. The entire set required various degrees of cleaning, repatination, and hand polishing. (Notice the new dragon wiskers at the bottom of the image.) |
