Matthew Boulton Sheffield Wine Bottle Coasters

This pair of coasters arrived at the shop requiring some loving care. Notice the tarnish and grime covering the one on the left. I removed that grime first with alcohol and horsehair brush, lightly tapping the ornament while lifting the dirt with cotton balls. Remember, lift grime, don't spread it! I then used Q-tips and Herman's Simply Clean on the interior fluting, and cotton balls on the exterior to remove the tarnish. I cleaned the wooden bottom with alcohol, allowed it to dry, then coated it with Staples Clear Wax. The coasters were coated with Meguiar's Quik Wax to prevent tarnish.
