George Washington Descendants Coin Mint Julep Cups

These three cups were made by the following silversmiths: Left: T. Gowdy, Nashville, TN, 1795-1863 • Center: E.C. Garner, Lexington, KY  1817-1877 • Right: no mark. Washington was born 1732 and died 1799. The cups were annealed to soften the hardened silver, then the major dents were removed and the top and bottom rims re-rounded. Because the high heat from annealing, the rims and crests had to be repatinated then the cups hand-polished.
